Square Enix is famous for delivering beautiful Japanese RPGs with immersive storylines. However, Western audiences perceive the characters to be too youthful, preferring more rugged male heroes. To give Square Enix's latest JRPG an appealing look Western audiences, we used shadows to obscure the traditional Japanese characters, letting the viewer's imagination fill in the details. The game's vast adventure is communicated by placing our heroes among undiscovered cosmos, while a supersaturated color palette conveys the rich storyline and creates an ownable look that helps Star Ocean stand out among its competition.
